"Forças Armadas" arises from the dream of the Curitiba-based collective Kings of The Night to create a performative Drag King trilogy structured around three components: the dance/theater revue "Querelle" (Navy), the play "Réquiem de Guerra" (Army), and the video performance series "Esquadrilha da Fumaça" (Air Force).
This project aims to develop research for the creation of the performative scripts of "Querelle" and "Réquiem de Guerra", as well as the research, production, and dissemination of the web series "Esquadrilha da Fumaça". These works deepen the collective’s exploration of the relationships between masculinity and violence, the practice of Drag King performance, and the aesthetics of desbunde and cabaret.
Founded in 2017 by Rubia Romani (Drag King Rubão), co-author of this project, Kings of The Night has been dedicated to promoting the Drag King scene. The collective organizes the Kings of The Night party/cabaret, which has had seven editions in Curitiba, one in Maringá/PR, and one online during the pandemic. This event was the first in Paraná to be entirely dedicated to Drag King performance, featuring approximately 30 different Drag Kings.
Additionally, the collective has released two editions of the Kings of The Night Erotic Calendar, a publication showcasing performative Drag King photography. Another key initiative is a series of Drag King workshops led by Rubão, fostering the development of various cabaret artists. Currently, the collective consists of ten members from diverse artistic fields, including theater, dance, performance art, visual arts, and audiovisual production.
Enlisted in this project are men at war—along with the themes they carry: virility, dehumanization, seduction, rivalry, camaraderie, territorialism, and now, gender performativity. Drag King transformation adds depth to discussions about gender roles, exposing power dynamics, the occupation of space, and the rights and privileges associated with different bodies.

"Forças Armadas" surge do sonho do coletivo curitibano Kings of The Night de realizar uma trilogia performática drag king constituída por três frentes: O espetáculo de dança/teatro de revista "Querelle" (Marinha), a peça "Réquiem de Guerra" (Exército) e a série de vídeo-performances "Esquadrilha da Fumaça" (Força Aérea). O presente projeto tem como objetivos o desenvolvimento de pesquisa para a montagem dos roteiros performáticos de "Querelle" e "Réquiem de Guerra" e a pesquisa, execução e difusão da web-série "Esquadrilha da Fumaça", trabalhos que aprofundam a pesquisa do coletivo acerca das relações entre masculinidade e violência, o fazer drag king e a estética do desbunde e cabaré.
O coletivo Kings of The Night surge em 2017, criado pela co-autora deste projeto, Rubia Romani/drag king Rubão. O coletivo promove a festa/cabaré Kings of The Night, que já contou com 7 edições em Curitiba, 1 edição em Maringá/PR e 1 edição online durante o período pandêmico. A festa foi a primeira no Paraná completamente dedicada à performance Drag King e já promoveu apresentações de cerca de 30 drag kings diferentes. O coletivo lançou também 2 edições do Calendário Erótico Kings of The Night, publicações de fotografia performática Drag King. Outra frente do coletivo é a realização de oficinas Drag King ministradas por Rubão, promovendo a formação de diversos artistas cabareteiros. O coletivo atualmente conta com 10 integrantes das mais diversas áreas: atrizes, artistas do dança e da performance art, artistas visuais e profissionais do audiovisual.
Alistados neste projeto estão homens em guerra e os temas que eles trazem consigo: virilidade, desumanização, sedução, disputas, rivalidades, camaradaria, territorialismo e, agora, a performatividade de gênero. O transformismo Drag King adiciona complexidade às discussões acerca dos papéis sociais de homens e mulheres, expondo as relações de poder, as maneiras de ocupar espaços e os direitos e privilégios exercidos pelos corpos.
